For the same reason Republicans and conservatives only see what is convenient for them. The weakness of liberals (and I am grouping most Democrats under that label, even if some don't belong) is that they are willing to listen to the other side, and even give the other side the benifit of the doubt sometimes. If you doubt that this happens, look at the vote on giving Bush the power to exert military force in Iraq. For the most part, it was given because the Democrats hoped that he would use that power conservatively and only when absolutely necessary and everything was planned. Unfortunately, since they gave him the benifit of the doubt, they didn't put any restrictions on that power and he ran rampant with it.

I don't believe Democrats are the only ones at fault for this. Republicans have this same issue. President Bush and party with Iraq's Nuclear war ideas...and yet the proof on that is where? North Korea actually has missle testing, yet we sit and talk. I am just looking at this from the "common sense party's" point of view!

You can say the same thing about Republicans. The problem is that both parties are so busy just being against whatever the other is for that nothing will ever be accomplished.

The same thing could be said of Christians, Muslims, Republicans, white supremists.

It's all in the perspective, honey.
