They're driving me nuts! I've cleared every drop of standing water from the yard ... still they come. We wear repellant, burn mosquito lanterns, etc. Just curious if this recent hot spell would affect them at all.

Mosqutoes can only take the heat for a short time or they will dehydrate unfortunately they can move at very fast speeds(1,000+feet /sec.)which is moe than enough time to latch on and re-hydrate on your blood.Try some OFF.

Well, I'm also a mosquito attracter, and thay can stand heat better than us. They are afraid of the cold though, just to let you know.
When it's really hot outside, then don't go outside!
When you sweat, the repellant can easily come off unless you use sweat-proof stuff.
If you have to get outside, try avoiding moist areas, trees, and any other plants.
Once you're in a cool place, the mosquitoes won't bother you anymore.

Hope that helps!
Good Luck!
Spend more time inside with the Computer! :o)

Mosquitoes are not affected by the heat. They are drawn to the humidity of a location. If you are in an area where it is very Arid and dry, you wouldnt be bothered with them like you would in a more favorable climate for them.

That's wishful thinking. It's about 100 degrees here in the afternoon, but the mosquitos are still here.
