I have a 6 month old also, and have definitely had to get creative at entertaining her! She only likes activites for about 5 minutes MAX, so I have had to come up with a lot of things! Here are some things she likes:

-exersaucer
-johnny jump-up
-bouncer
-outdoor toddler swing
-reading books
-sitting in high chair and getting to pound on tray with spoon
-singing songs/dancing
-tummy time/practe crawling
-making faces in mirror
-activity gym
-peek-a-boo
-covering her in a blanket and letting her "escape" from it
-practice standing and walking
-sitting outside, feeling the grass
-going for a stroller ride
-going to the playground and swinging and watching the other kids play
-playing our piano
-playing in the bath tub
-swimming
-watching educational tv for no more than 30 minutes- such as Sesame Street, Baby Einstein
-pat-a-cake
-going to WalMart and playing with the toys in the baby aisle!
-getting down on the floor with baby and playing with different toys
-if baby isn't sitting yet, put baby in a sitting position between your legs and use legs and chest to provide only as much support as baby needs to sit
-bouncing baby on knee
-hiding a toy under a blanket and letting baby find it
-baby exercises, touching hand to opposite foot, bicycling legs, etc...my daughter loves it!! (I always do the exercise count thing while I do it, 1,2,3,4!!)

Good luck, and get creative...the simplest things are entertaining to a baby!

I use the same type of routine with my baby. I went through a time where I tried to figure out what to do with her during all of her waketimes. You could try to repeat some of the activities, just change the location. For example, you could put him in his exersaucer near a big window in the morning so he can enjoy the sunlight and put him in a quieter, dimmer spot closer to bedtime. So they're actually the same activity, but a completely different experience for him. You could also set aside one waketime a day for the two of you to take a walk or run an errand if you need to. The good news is that he's not too far away from the days that he'll only eat 3 or 4 times a day, so hang in there and keep up the good work!

I have a 7 month old and here are a few things that we do:
put on the radio or a tape and dance
play with a jack in the box
make music together with her lights and sounds piano
sing a song-I try to use little fisher price figures like animals and sing something like Old McDonald
Play in the tub-if it is hot outside
Hope some of these were helpful-good luck!

Practice gross motor skills w/ him such as rolling over or sitting. Do you have a boppy to practice sitting? You could als get a mirror that he can look into while on his tummy or just stand in front of a mirror w/ him and watch him giggle. Tickle time is great too! My daughter loved this at that age and she still does. She's now 12 months old.

I have a 6 month too. She LOVES her kangaroo (it's like a johny jumper but safer). She also loves to go swimming in the pool. There's a really great baby float at target. Peek a boo and patty cakes are also favs. She also likes watching the fish in the aquarium.

If she isn't sitting unsupported now, she will have the capacity to be shortly. i'd purchase toys she will have the capacity to sit down down and play with like bongo drums, a field with shapes in it, etc. Emma also has a basket finished of small toys (teething earrings, rattles, timber spoon, etc) and she or he rolls over to it, receives it, and dumps all of them out. Balls are thrilling also. Emma has some "unconventional toys" like a timber spoon, an old telephone, and a formula can with gallon water lids in it.

Carry him around the house and let him touch the different things. Let him exerpience all the different textures. Let him hold something warm and something cold.

Buy a plastic swimming pool and fill it up with a little water. Put him in a swimming suit and get in the pool with him. Let him splash the water and feel it over his skin.

I also have a 6 month old son, one thing he likes to do is pound on pots and pans with a big plastic spoon. He also loves to go on walks and look at his surroundings, the trees, grass, flowers, I show him everything, and also let him touch different, safe things. He is amazed with touching dandylions and grass, and even pinecones.

maybe you could try getting him a small pool and letting him swim. you could take him for walks, babies love to go for walks (as long as its not too hot out), you could play pat a cake, peek a boo, if he can crawl you can play hide and seek, that may sound crazy but what you do is leave the room, but dont go far, and call his name, when he "finds" you, act all excited. of course if you dont hear him coming to you, you would go back to him.

make edible playdough

make pudding finger paint

put paint in a bag with a wood cut and let him mash it around until the wood is coated in paint. Then take it out to dry and then embellish it how ever you want.

give him paper and you put glue on foam cut outs and let him place it on the paper

sing songs with him.

try to teach him baby sign by using it in song and regular discussion.

I can go on and on.... email me if you need more ideas.
