I am a beginner actress and I wanted some idea on where to look for acting gigs?

First, you don't need an agent. If you are just getting started, it is pointless. Chances are you will only start off with extra work , why would you want to pay someone 12% of 50 bucks a day?
Anyway, try calling theTexas Film commision. Everything in Texas in need of casting will be listed and many will be listed with addresses on where to submit your headshot.

Theatre or film? Austin is good bet, has lots going on, especially in film. Dallas has lots of good theatre companies - though DTC tends to cast from NYC. The advice about TFC is good. Also try TNT (Texas Non-profit Theatres) website for a listing of community theatres where you can get some experience under your belt. Good hunting!

Get an agent. Check the phone book. Pastorini and Bosby is in Houston. Good agency. You will probably need some professional head shots. They can probably refer you to a photographer.
