Actually, the age of consent varies from state to state. Your boyfriend might be exposing himself to serious legal (along with moral) consequences.

AGE OF
SEXUAL
STATE CONSENT
ALABAMA 16

ALASKA 16

ARIZONA 18

ARKANSAS 16

CALIFORNIA 18

COLORADO 17

CONNECTICUT 16

DELAWARE 18

The age of sexual consent is 16 for adults who are under 30 years of age,
or if the adult that is 30 years of age or older is married to the minor.

DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA 16

FLORIDA 18

The age of sexual consent is 16 for adults who are under 24 years of age,
or if the adult that is 24 years of age or older is married to the minor.

GEORGIA 16

HAWAII 16

It is illegal for minors age 14 and 15 to have consensual sex with adults
at least five years older, this law does not apply to married couples.

IDAHO 18

ILLINOIS 17

Illinois law makes 18 the minimum age at which teachers and their students
may legally have sex. Age 17 does not apply to teachers or any other school
employee in a "position of authority" over the minor.

INDIANA 16

It is illegal for adults in a supervisory position of a minor aged 16 and 17
to have consensual sex with them. The crime called "felony child seduction"
, a Class D felony, carries a maximum penalty of three years in prison and a
$10,000 fine.

IOWA 16

KANSAS 16

Kansas law prohibits various sexual scenarios, and has a special category
for sex with a person between 14 and 16. Adults breaching this criminal
sodomy section face harsh penalties, but Kansas lawmakers carved out some
breathing space for youthful miscreants, provided they are 18 or under, and
within four years of age of their consensual partner. Called the "Romeo and
Juliet" law, the provision limits the penalty for teen sex to 15 months in
jail, and does not require the perpetrator to register as a sex offender.
But the "Romeo and Juliet" law only applies to heterosexual teen-agers. Also
it is a felony for school employees to have consensual sexual contact with
students ages 16 or 17, even if it is only french-kissing.

KENTUCKY 16

LOUISIANA 17

Louisiana law allows prosecutors to seek the death penalty for people
convicted of having consensual sex with a person under 12 years old. The
Louisiana state Supreme Court declared the law constitutional in 1999
because of a 1977 U.S. Supreme Court ruling addressing the rape of an adult,
not a child. The U.S. Supreme Court in 1977 banned the death penalty for
raping adult women, but the justices did not say whether it could be applied
to child rapists. The U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear the 1999 Louisiana
case, allowing the death penalty law to stand.

MAINE 16

MARYLAND 16

MASSACHUSETTS 16

If a minor 16 or 17 years of age is a virgin, sex is illegal (Chapter 272:
Section 4. Inducing person under 18 to have sexual intercourse).

If you're 16 and he's 20, the answer is yes. Absolutely. No question. If you're 30 and he's 34, then no.
But for a girl in high school to be dating a guy who isn't... that is so, so, SO out of line....
At 16 you're vulnerable to any older guy who pays attention to you... tells you that you're attractive... wants to get close to you... thinks of you as a woman... loves you... whatever line he's using. Understand this guy is after you because you're vulnerable, not because you are just "oh so amazing". That will come with time, maturity and experience. He's targeted you because he can't successfully target women his own age, or he would.

In my humble opinion, what "people" think is absolutely irrelevant. The question is what do you think, or better yet, what do you feel? Check the motivation, if you are the male, is your motivation based on actual concern and attraction for the other, or are you looking for someone that you feel dominant over and can manipulate. This is often the case in these relationships. If you are the female, again first measure concern for the other. Then ask yourself, are you looking for someone to take care of you? Age is not so important in a relationship as is the motivation of that relationship, once you look at your motivation, communicate that honestly and openly with your partener, that is what you want from this relationship. Encourage them to respond, if your motivations are compatable, then go for it, if not, se la vi. Beware, if your partener is uncomfortable or elusive with this response, or if you feel that they are not being honest, chances are that they are not. Should this be the case, they probably do not have the "best intentions" in this relationship.

It's wrong, because one is not technically considered an adult. 4 years is not such a big deal if you are both consenting adults. My wife and I are 7 years apart, it sometimes causes problems cause we grew up in different generations, we like different music, and remember different shows from when we were kids, not wrong now though cause we were both well over 20 when we got together, but sometimes a challenge. If he's really into you, then just stay friends (seriously JUST friends) for another couple of years, and see if he's really into you or just "wants" you.

well depends just like you said but if the girl is underage and dating a guy who is older than her by 4 years i think it is wrong and its illegal, but i think 17 is okay but still 4 years is too much
if you were lets say older than 23 and dating a guy older by 4 years then from there and on its all good

it's not strange but it is borderline wrong. there is a HUGE difference in maturity amongst other things between a 16 yrs old and a 20 yrs old

It's called statutory rape. And why are you dating someone so much older than you? Does it make you feel like a bad ***? Are your parents aware that you are dating some pervert? Ask yourself this, he is a 20 year old man, why cant he find someone his own age? Please dont tell me you look 20 or you are so mature. Give me a break, he's a creep.

Baba Ramdev and Anna Hazare have caught the imagination of the nation. If any untoward would happen to them (may be a genuine accident), public would accuse the government. So it is not strange.

At 16 you're almost jail bait. Date guys your own age, stay out of their bedrooms, go to college. A 20 year old guy is just trying to screw you honey..... and take advantage of you. No matter how sophisticated you think you are he is 20% older than you..... lots!!!!!

A 16 yr. old should not be dating, first of all - especially not with a 20 yr. old. Yes, it is wrong.
