A connection where you don't use your phone line or a connection which does not tie your phone line up?

You can get DSL, which uses the same lines as your phone (if available in your area) but leaves your phone line (the 53K audio bandwidth) open.

If you are absolutely against the phone lines (perhaps you have no reliable service in your area), you could go with a cable modem. Assuming that you live in a rural area (hence no reliable phone service), then the cable modem should work at a reliable capacity, unless all your neighbors are using it too.

A better internet connection...........nobody now uses dial up anymore. If you have a seprate socket other than your phone line book for a dsl connection with the speed of your choice. Now the price increases with the inrease in speed so wisely book for DSL.

Hope this solves your queries
