That also is one of my biggest fears, the thought of seeing an image like that every time I close my eyes. Yipes.

Kudos to the EMT's, firefighters, policemen, and other Emergency Response Personnel for their bravery (while we're on the subject) I'm just too squeamish to see something like that and not pass out!

Twice. I was driving a rural road in northern Canada. The weather conditions were rainy and the road was muddy and slippery and curvy. I came to a corner and saw an SUV upside down in a ditch. I stopped to see if I could do anything to help and found the lady inside pinned to her dashboard. She was still alive, but only just as the steering wheel had completely crushed her chest. There was blood coming out of her eyes, nose, ears and mouth. She couldn't breath of course. She died as I helplessly watched. All I could do was hold her hand. I'll never forget the pain and terror in her eyes.
Also, once while I was traveling down the highway I happened upon a scene involving a motorcycle and a transport truck. The man was apparently traveling at an extremely high rate of speed and miscalculated passing the vehicle. Half of him was on one side of the highway, the other half was in the ditch. His motorcycle was in a million tiny pieces scattered for about 300 yards.

Yeah, I rolled up on 4 dudes who had driven into a light pole & the driver was all cut up from glass & his passengers nose would not stop oozing blood. The guys in the back were rubbing their heads & one guy was gripping his ribs. I called 911, then I broke out. Don't want to get blamed for it!!

No, but when I use to scuba dive, I also thought I would come across a dead body or something underwater......... the year I gave up diving, in the exact location where I use to scuba dive, some other divers found an old man's body trapped under a tree. Blahh!!!

one reason people get squimish is that they feel helpless. do something useful and you may be OK. get some first aid training. if nothing else call for help and direct traffic until the professionals arrive. thanks for the kudos
