In Mexico and many other Hispanic cultures, they celebrate "El Dia de Los Muertos" where they celebrate the souls of the departed and their lives. They do not dress up as we do for Halloween, but celebrate with 'calaveras' (skulls), dancing skeletons, lots of food "pan de los muertos", and marigolds. A great activity that I did in my classroom was to make sugar skulls. It is so much fun - check out this site www.mexicansugarsulls.com. You can purchase the whole kit!

Practically every culture ever has celebrated some sort of harvest time festival, often associated with death or the dead, since it's the time when the crops are dying and winter is coming.
