Being a Jesus Hippie isn't how you dress or what you say as much as it is how you live.. To be a Jesus Hippie means having an attitude of the heart that grows out of a personal encounter with the living Christ and overflows into your whole life.

Jesus taught about peace and love and chose the outcasts, loved the unlovely, reached out to the rejects. Jesus taught about getting back to the Garden, about having a personal relationship with the Creator of the universe...If you want to know the basis to beliefs as a Jesus Hippie, read Jesus' Sermon on the Mount~Matthew 5-7!

I can't speak on behalf of hippies nor can I pretend to be a spokesperson for all Christians. I can only give you my own opinion of what living as a Jesus Hippie is. I have had a personal encounter with the true and living God and Father of all creation through His son Jesus Christ. As a young highschool student, I became part of the most powerful move of God in modern times which swept through the young and Hippie subculture of America and became known as the Jesus Movement.

If all the politics and materialism that has crept into the modern church is stripped away and we go back to First Century Christianity we will find an interesting parallel between true Christianity and Hippiedom sans the drugs and free love. Rather than reduce Jesus to a long hair Hippie cliche complete with beard and sandals, I prefer to focus on Jesus' message and its relationship to Hippie culture.

We find the core of Jesus' teachings in the Sermon on the Mount. If only these 3 chapters of Jesus' words survived the past 2 millenniums we would have all the truth necessary to live in peace and harmony with both our Creator and one another here on Earth. The Sermon on the Mount is what I call the "Jesus Hippie Manifesto". It contains such treasures as The Beatitudes, The Lord's Prayer, The Golden Rule and Turning the other cheek. The Sermon on the Mount offers a connection to the Creator of the Universe. Jesus does something totally revolutionary and unheard of before His time, He presents God as our Father.

Jesus is the consummation of the Hippie quest for not only peace and love but also Jesus provides the cosmic connection that binds us all together as Children of the Light.

The title "Jesus Hippie" not only explains my personal belief in Jesus as Savior, but also my cultural ideation as a Hippie. The most important identity that I have is a Child of God. Because one attends church does not make them a Christian nor does wearing tie-dye make you a Hippie anymore than sitting in a garage makes you a vehicle. Christianity and Hippiedom are both "heart things" .

I am only one person doing my best to follow the Son of God, Jesus the Christ. I am only trying to share the Love & Peace of God with those who are in need, whoever they are, and wherever they may be found while being true to myself and my own beliefs.

These are the things I do to stay true to my Jesus Hippie ideas and beliefs....
I rap with God daily, meditate on the Bible daily, I keep the faith...I try to always trust and obey God....Hang out with brothers & sisters who also believe....I was baptized, I receive the Holy Spirit to help me walk the walk... I kick down the Good News and try to be kind and love everyone!

I hope this explains a little more about who I am! I would like anyone to feel free to ask me any question you'd like...anything you'd like to know about me...my beliefs...anything! Ask away! I'm ready with an answer!

You talk about things that you feel comfortable sharing. When asked really personal stuff just respond with "Why do you want to know"?
