Society just know that someone that sk8s on public property can lose a grip on there board and plunge into a car or window, so that is why they made sk8 parks. So enjoy them they have all that cool stuff skaters like.

I think that skaters are become more mainstream than they were about a decade or more ago. And if you want to change people's opinions about skaters, don't do what they already expect you are going to do (ie, damaging property), to change their expectations.
