I live on a lake and am tired of all the droppings! They invade the property when I am not there. We have tried firecrackers, dogs, and chasing them away but they return within a few days. I am worried that in the future they may carry 'bird flue'. I want a surefire way to keep them away.

Well you can try this. My Nana has had constant problems with Raccoons and Heron getting into her pond and eatting all her expensive Koa so my Uncle bought and set up a very Clever Thingy-ma-giggy...It connects to your sprinkler and has a sensor eye on it. When anything is detected by the eye........the water blasts the varmint giving it a good scare. Not sure what it's called but if your interested, contact me I can ask my Nana !!

Hope this helps..................she loves it!!
P.S. My dad forgot it was on one day helping her in the yard.
He was blasted in the shoulder by it. Shook him up enough to write a Poem about it..............must work great!!!!

Hey...I'm back thanks for contacting me...here's the info on
the squirt zapper...
It's called Havahart Spray Away. Their website is www.havahart.com. It is put out by a company called Woodstream, 69 N. Locust Street, Lititz, Pa 17543.Their phone # is (800)800-1819, (717)626-2125. The model she has is #5265.
email:havahartwebmaster@woodstream.com.
My Nana said that her son found it through a magazine, ordered it and gave it to her for a Christmas present.

I think it's a great idea because I love animals and birds and wouldn't want to kill anything (even rats) but this is a wonderful concept to a "save the animals, just scare the crap outta them instead and give'em a good shower" way of solving ones problems when they start not being oh so cuddley and "Hey, stop pooping everywhere" kind of pest!

She said she's never seen a raccoon in the yard since!
(Hey....maybe I can hook it up to my front yard hose and keep the telemarketeers from knocking on my door....he-he!)

Sure love to hear if you get one and how it works for you....

My local library where I lived growing up was next to a lake, and they got sick of the ducks and geese. The library bought a pair of swans and never had a problem again. Swans are not only prettier, they are very mean birds and won't allow any other birds near them. They also returned every year, and so did the children. The swans weren't half as messy or loud as the other birds. Or maybe one of those motio-activated modern scarecrows that look like a hawk or falcon? In my area they cost $75-100, but everybody says they work.

Try this put a stake in the ground at each end of your property tie fish sting from one to another the geese wont step over the line they will go where they can just walk up a single strand three or four inches off the ground good luck
