There not retards, there disabled. We feel sorry for them, because they don't get to enjoy everything like the rest of us and they can't always make there own decisions n life. They are the same as everyone else, just with different needs.

It is not that they are happier (in my experience and I work professionally with people with cognitive disabilities) ("retard" is an insulting term, go ahead and call me PC).
They are socially conditioned to behave "happier" as they are generally not given ample opportunities, people expect little to nothing of them, and they are not given chances to push their limits (generally). What you see is often not what you get.

I think it's a mixture of sympathy, fascination, and then feeling uncomfortable for most people. But you make a really good point, they DO seem very happy most of the time. So there's really no reason to be sympathetic towards them.

I don't necessarily feel sorry for them. They do not want your pity they want to live their lives just like you and me. I do feel sorry though when ignorant people are ignorant to the fact that they are special.

I don't feel sorry for them but I don't envy them either. I just think its a bunch of PC BS. They shouldn't get "special privileges" but they shouldn't be shunned from society either.

Yeah, dude, I wish I was retarded too, haha. that'd be the life-- get pushed around in a wheelie chair all day, have people wipe your *** for you, feed you.
And you can just pick your nose, scratch your balls and holler at people. sounds ****** sweet to me. lol

I don't feel sorry for them. I just accept them as I would any other person. They are what they are.
