Alain Prost, but only because Senna died prematurely.

To any Mickey Scumbagger fans, he doesn't rate. Scumbag didn't win one legitimate championship. He only won when he had the best car, when nobody else had an equal car. Scumbag LOST TWICE when he had an equal car, to Villeneuve and Hakkinen, and Scumbag LOST to Hakkinen in 1999, and Scumbag *did* have the best car.

The best drivers can win titles without having the best car. Prost did it, Senna did it, and Hakkinen did it. Scumbag can't and never will. Scumbagger is 16th-20th all time, not the top 5.

And for the record, oval speeders are not race drivers.

"NASCAR is a bunch of farmers driving around in circles."
- Eddie Irvine, ex-F1 driver

To "XC220":

Since Scumbagger had the best car (no mechanical failure) and no one collided with him at Silverstone, how did he end up going off into the wall and breaking his leg?

Answer: Scumbagger screwed up. So much for being a "great driver".

Dale Earnhardt Sr.
he won all 7 of his championship cups in only a 15 year spand. 7 out of 15. From 1979 when he started to 1994 when he got his last championship cup.

Richard Petty was great also but he started racing in 1958 he got his last championship cup in 1979. So it took him 21 years to get 7 championship cup wins.

Dale Earnhardt Sr. will always be the best driver ever to hit NASCAR.

Dale Earnhart Sr would be my choice.Tony Stewart may one day be considered as best of all time but it is way too early in his career to say that today. And for Hummer why do you have to hate. Why can't people like you simply answer the questions that are asked instead of spewing disparaging hate full comments, just because you don't like Nascar does not make you an authority as to what qualifies as a sport millions & millions of fans say you are wrong.

Even though Elliott Sadler and Dale Jarrett are my favorites driver and I think they are the best, I have to say that Dale Earnhardt Sr. was the all time best race car driver. He just had that way about him that the fans either loved, or loved to hate. He knew how to get the job done on the track and his records prove that.

Hands down, Ayrton Senna. R.I.P.
For this year, two Spanish youngsters(under 26 years old). One in F1 and the other in MotoGP.
