Who know what "the point" is. A deep thinking philosopher might make an argument for it being some arcane and mysteriouos, but logically irrefutable, cosmic end. I, not being a philosopher, and having precious little grasp of logic, once got the idea that the existance of everything, from space shuttle missions to ancient history, was simply a figment of my imagination and, thus, only for my amusement until the end of time. But, that still did't provide a purpose for my existance, not did account for where I came from to be doing all this imagining.

What I'm left with is that "the point" becomes something unique to the individule. For someone devout, for instance, it may be to worship whatever deity they believe in and live life so as to attain whatever reward is promised for the after life. For those of lesser faith, parents, for example, it may be satisfying to think it's feeding and clothing and nurturing their kids to the best that their means will allow, so they can enter society as productive and responsible citizens. A business man may consider it to be emassing or perpetuating a fortune that will allow his decendents to wield power and live in luxury for generations to come. Even a criminal may have it that the point is to punish society by robbing and/or killing for gain that would otherwise be denied him.

All very shallow, compared to whatever may be the real purpose. But, all readily coprehendable, for very few people ponder the ultimate. And, probably, all for the better, since to be preoccupied with discovering "the point" leaves little time to work at greasing the wheels. Besides, those who do invest the time to to find the answer will likely never, until the end, uncover the truth.

Only an opinion. And, pardon the spelling, the spell check function is not working.

The point is the point. We spend our lives looking for the point, never making points of our own. When we find the point we forget what the point of trying to find the point was, so then we are back to asking, "what's the point?" the point is still the point so we keep looking for the point, finding smaller points and passing them by looking the big point. So, what's the point of looking for the point. Lets make our own points. Tell other people what the point is so that they don't waste there lives looking for the point when we could tell them the point. Pizza Rocks, thats the Point. Everyone knows that pizza is the point, the world revolves around it. Well, pizza has a point. To satisfy our taste buds, but whats the point? I'll get to the point now....I forgot my point.

My point is all about regaining control, you know?

We live our entire lives under someone's control:

birth-high school: parental control

working life: employer's control

night life: police officer's control

I try to live my life in such a way that I have total control 24-7. If I have to skirt a law or two, demand time for myself, pay a bill late, whatever, by whatever means necessary, I will be the final word.

What's the point in answering so many questions on Yahoo answers? Why are we so competitive to get more points than other people?

I think what you're really asking is, what's the point in trying so hard and starting over and over and over and never getting where you want to be? Why should we keep going? It's just going to hurt over and over again... Why can't something good just happen? Why can't I do things right just one time in my life.

I thought this many times in the last couple of years. I was ready to give up and take the easy way out, when an old friend came back into my life and helped me get back into the swing of things. Here's what I learned:

I spent most of my life trying to figure out love, trying to make money, trying to make myself happy. What I finally figured out, is that I was living for myself. You can't be completely happy living for yourself. Now if you live for a cause, or for someone else, you can't be anything but happy, cause how do you let yourself down that way? Looking for love makes you unhappy because people let you down, people ignore you, etc. Getting high can only make you unhappy in the long run, cause it doesn't do anything but numb you to the negative stuff, when it boils down to it, it really just brings more negative to you(i learned that the hard way).

Sometimes, even when something terrible in your life just keeps happening all the time, over and over, if you find that one thing that you can live for outside of your own life, it will drive you. You will see "the point". You will learned to fight back. When you put someone else's life ahead of yours, your life will be changed for the better. As long as you try to make yourself happy, you will keep hitting those brick walls. Ever heard the saying, "He who loses his life will gain it, but he who saves his own life will lose it."?

the point is to not have a point. its all just a cycle, get up, get ready, go to work/school, eat, drink, come home, sleep. you do this every day until SOMEONE figures out that we acctually have a point. Serious.
