It's D&C, dialation and curettage. Immediately after giving birth I had this done because a peice of the placenta was retained and I was bleeding out. It's when they scrape the uterus out.

Dilation and curettage - D&C
Curettage of the uterus (womb) is the scraping of the lining of the uterus (the endometrium). The procedure is commonly known as dilation and curettage or D&C.
When is D&C carried out?
There are two main reasons for performing a D&C:
an evacuation D&C is performed in a recently pregnant woman to remove tissue remaining in the womb.
a gynaecological D&C is part of the investigation of a woman who is experiencing heavy or irregular periods or vaginal bleeding after the menopause.

Dilation aNd Curettage. But it's actually D&C. It's a medical procedure to "clean out" the uterus. It's most commonly used to retreive tissue to rule out cancer. But a D&C is also done to remove pregnancy tissue after a miscarriage, abortion an/or childbirth. It's usually done with general anesthesia. After receiving a D&C women are cautioned to avoid sex, douching and tampon use for at least two weeks.

It's actually D and C standing for Diltion (which means enlargin) and Curettage (which means scraping).
This procedure involves expanding or enlarging the entrance of a woman’s uterus so that a thin, sharp instrument can scrape or suction away the lining of the uterus and take tissue samples.

You mean a D&C, which stands for dilation and curetage. This is a procedure in which the uterus is scraped of unhealthy tissue, most commonly a miscarried fetus.

D & C is dilation and cutterage. Its commonly done after a misscarriage to remove tissue that might not have left after the misscarriage. My sister in law had one after her son was born to remove a placenta fragment
