The main difference between Shi'ites and Sunnis is who they thought should lead the Muslim world after Muhammed died. The Shi'ites thought it should be hereditary, but the Sunnis didn't. They also have a different canon of hadith, which are religious books that are like commentaries on the Qur'an, though they are not regarded on the same level becuase they are written after the Qur'an and were wriiten by humans (The Qur'an is believed to be God's own word through Muhammed).
It's similar to the conflict between Catholics and Protestants in Ireland. In most cases, they can coexist, but they have their differences.
In he case of Iraq, which I assume you are referring to, the Sunni (a minority) were put in power by Britain and the UNited states before the current war, but now with a new system without Saddam Hussein, the Shi'ites are in power. Both sides resent eachother for this. Most of the time though, the two sects can coexist peacefully.

Right before the Battle of Fallen Timbers between the fledgling United States and several Indian tribes, the great cheif Techumseh said "If we band together we will force the white devils from our lands."
The same applies to the Arabic people. If we would stop fighting each other our combined strength would be a force to be reckoned with. But clannish struggles are more important than fighting a common fo...Arabic Extremists.

Because od devide and rule policy of USA in Iraq? There was no Shiite and Sunni fight before occupation of Iraq. They shoud unite and kill Americans to achieve frrrdom.

they suffer from irreconcilable religious "differences". but, lest we forget, humans, generally, especially the ego ridden testosterone crazed males, seem to always find something to murder each other over. i'm a guy, and even as such am getting pretty fed up with the endless no consciousness BS.
