You dont, you must turn it into law enforcement, who will in turn likely contact the Secret Service to ask you a bunch of questions. I do believe that you can get some kind of voucher or something that allows you to deduct the money from any Federal tax liability when you do your taxes though. You should look at the Department of the Treasury or IRS website for more accurate information on the subject.

I work in the accounting office for a large retail chain. There is no way to get reimbursed for any fake money. You need to give it to the local police so they can try and find out where they are coming from. Next time use bill marker pens, or watch closer. Most fake money will feel slippery, they will not have the little specks mixed in with the paper, and the green ink on the back will rub off black. Try testing for those three things and you shouldn't get stuck with another.

Depending on where you got the bill, you may have some recourse with your bank, but chances are you're out of luck.
