Tough decision, because there are so many good books and it's up to your personal preference. I'd definitely make sure to read It, The Stand, The Talisman, and Black House as far as single books go (though Black House is a Sequel to The Talisman, so read Talisman first).
If you have a lot of time, I'd definitely read The Dark Tower series. It's 7 books, of which I'm still now in the middle of book 5. The first 4 books, however, are some of my favorite King books of all time, particularly the 4th, Wizard and Glass. There are several connections between The Dark Tower and Kings other books such as Hearts in Atlantis and Insomnia, which you've already read, so you'll enjoy them that much more.

Ok - asked my son about this cause he started reading King in grade 4 and hasn't stopped since (I read King eon's ago lol)
His vote for best if you don't want to invest a lot of time into it in like reading The Dark Tower (which actually reflects in a lot of his works) is to read The Stand.......*with the length of the book, King really develops the characters, their plights and brings it to a satisfying Good VS Evil climax*
For him The Long walk was a good story but not his best work - my son's quote was..........*there's not enough character in the Long Walk, and the story ends rather...oddly*
So just thought I'd pass on the info

Finally! A question I have an opinion on!
I have read them all, as well as several other popular authors (Patterson, Koontz, Deaver, Sandford, Kellerman) and one of the better books I've read is The Stand by Stephen King. Classic Good vs. Evil and the end of the world.
Happy reading!

I suggest (as some other answers did) The gunslinger series and The Stand. Both fantastic. I also enjoyed Black House and Despiration. Some of the ones you read were the ones I really didn't enjoy, like The Dark Half. I'm almost through the Tommyknockers now and I don't think it's one of his best works.

Try Rose Madder. You may also want to read some of Dean Koontz books. He is just as good as Stephen King.

I really liked "The Long Walk". It is one of his earlier novels, when he was still using a pseudonym (Richard Bachman), and I think that it is a really good read. It does not have many sci-fi elements. It's more based on paranoia towards the government and the media. It has a very good ending as well.

Stephen King writes under a pseudonym / "pen" name: Richard Bachman.
Under Richard Bachman, check out "The Regulators" and then go from there.
