it could be a break in the curcuit with the bottom, since the pushing method detects the pressure applied and put drive in..
best way to fix this is to remove the face plate from the drive and make sure there is nothing stuck in the plate eg dirt/dust/bit of paper etc..
how this helps. if it does u might need to replace the drive or just live with pushing in the drive.

You might be pressing the button twice very fast. Or the button could be damage and be auto pressing its self a extra time. You can practise pressing the button in different ways using less or more pressure and see if it is human error or mechanical error.
