The constitution says a president must be a natural born citizen.
There is little chance of passing an amendment to change this requirement.

Why not? As long as they are a citizen of the US, they should be eligible. Isn't that what citizenship is all about? Equal opportunity for all? Being born in the US doesn't confer anything special on a person, but someone who makes a conscious decision to leave their homeland, move to the US, take out citizenship and build a life there obviously has a very high regard for the country. Possibly even higher than someone who just happens to have been born there.
There are checks and balances in running for office -- no criminal record, clean personal record, must have the backing of a certain number of solid citizens, etc. so it doesn't seem as though someone who doesn't have the country's best interests at heart would be able to slip through all those nets.
After all, some of the US-born presidents haven't been such sterling characters!

Why not? If the majority wants him to be the president and believe he will do the best possible job then US is only to gain from this.
In USSR everyone could become a president! And this was a very powerful tool for us to defend our "democracy" in International Relations. Somehting like: "Here in USSR everyone can become a president and in USA only someone who was born there! So who has a greater democracy?" :)

I think if they were raised in the US, then sure why not. What is someone was born in another country and came as a toddler?
I think this is a very touchy subject because if someone was raised elsewhere, you can not be entirely sure where their political alliances are. But then again, that can happen with people born here too.

yes. native americans were there before the white people and do you see any native american presidents? so, anyone that comes to america and wants to be president has this right, given by the very history of America. respecting the order, there should be a series of african american presidents because after the white established themselves in america they brought the african slaves

no longer for any political motives, yet Quincy (John Quincy Adams) or Grover (Grover Cleveland) are sturdy canines names. Plus, Cleveland served 2 nonconsecutive words...he saved coming back. despite you do do no longer do what Obama did and phone the canines after your self like he did with Bo (Barack Obama's initials), particularly tackles.
