I get this all the time. You should be on "america's next top model" or "8th and ocean" or "Do you model?" or "You should enter pagents" or "You look like a model"...etc
The thing is I have always felt that models were ugly and anoraxic looking. Therefore, I feel ugly when they say that or too skinny or something..Do you think this is a compliment or not?

Note: I know this may sound stupid but please take this question seriously. AND I am only 5'4" 1/2 if you consider that tall..

I hear it sometimes. It's a compliment. It doesn't mean that you look anorexic either. The fact is most people don't even realize how small most runway models ACTUALLY are.

I am 5'10" and weigh 135 lbs. I am happy with that weight; and it's considered the "healthy, ideal" weight or whatever. BUT people don't realize that women who are high fashion models and are 5'10" weigh something like 105-115 lbs. They wear a size 4/5 as opposed to a size 9/10 (as I do).

So don't take it to mean that they think you're anorexic. They just think you look like a model, in the good respects.... basing it on what little they see in advertisements and on TV. If they could put you side by side with one of those women though, the difference would be obvious. At least, I know it would be in my case.

Uh, seeing as it is just about every girl's dream 2 b a model, no, it's not an insult! On the contrary, it's a big compliment! It just means th@ u're pretty and th@ people notice! I mean, sure, if u want 2 b a model, go ahead! If u don't, then don't! But u know, saying th@ models r ugly and annoraxic is a HUGE steryotype! I almost became a kid's model when I wuz 8, but th@ doesn't mean th@ I wuz all skinny and hideous! I wuz actually pretty chubby and really cute! Models come in all shapes and sizes, and FYI, only the really, real "top models" in the world look like rails! So u should <3 th@ people think u're pretty enough 2 b called a model, 'cause 1 day, u could b! (not like the thin, freakish ones, of course!) =)

It sounds like they mean it as a compliment (or just as a pick-up line of some lame sort). Connotations aside for the 'super model' with anorexia and bulimia, people think 'beauty' first for models. I will say that most models are generally on the taller side (5'10"+), though there are probably markets for all sizes. Self-image is important and does not really have anything to do with modeling or otherwise. Most people struggle with self-image issues, so just try to appreciate the comments for what they're worth, don't get taken in too much by what other people say, and feel good about yourself. Enjoy!

People are complimenting you. Accept it gratefully. They don't know you have a skewed view of models.

Gee...now wave a flag and draw MORE attention to yourself.
All you need to say now is "don't hate me because I'm beautiful" and you'll have the whole package.

It depends on what you are modelling.
