because their lives are so void of exciting events that they sit at home with their pajamas on, thinking about how depressing thieir lives are (though thoroughly denying it at the same time), and decide that they want to make everyone's lives as crappy as theirs because they can't stand to see the world happy or content.
so they spread rumors.

Some people just do it for attention . . . Others do it because they don't like the celebrity . . . or they think that the rumor will fly and they will get "fame" for starting it.

It's a comination of not having anything better to do in their dumb lives, making money, and hoping they get their *** kicked by the celebrity so they can try to sue.
