Diego Armando Maradona :
Is most definately the best footballer of my generation without a doubt. Nobody has come close to having the same skill as Maradona had.
He almost single handedly Won the World Cup in Mexico 1986 for Argentina, In a tournament where he stamped his class and dominence over ALL footballers,
That tournament Maradona was OUTSTANDING and if you want to remember him for his Hand Of God goal against England then be my guest, But i think BY NOW you need to get over it.
I prefer to remember his second goal against England, beating half the England Team with a mazy run that he started just inside his own half, Skill, Strength, Balance and pace all in one flowing move and finishing it off by selling Peter Shilton a dummy. A sublime goal.
Anyone who saw Maradona at that World Cup in 86 will tell you that NO ONE has come close to emulating what he done that year.

the problem with this question is that half of the people who are going to answer are English, and god forbid someone from England agrees that someone from Argentina is better at football... all because of those stupid little islands.. who cares anymore about them? just leave it in the past, and go do the only thing you can do there... which is herd sheep. And the other half are either people from Brasil or Americans who instantly think that because someone is from Brasil they are better in football..
With that aside, Maradona should not be looked at because of what he did AFTER his football career, but what he did during it, I can't answer if he was better or worse than Pele (better than Ronaldinho, however... for sure, both of these men, not just Maradona)... But let's just try to leave politics outside, okay?
and please stop calling someone a coke head, or a cheat, when it has absolutely nothing to do with the question asked.
god, this is so frustrating.

No way. Pele scored more goals, won more trophies and other than the Maradona slalom and Hand of God what other moment stands out? I can count at least ten classic Pele moments from World Cups.

Maradonna was undoubtedly a great and is easily in the top tier of great footballers along with Pele. I personally think Pele is slightly better, Maradonna has been accused of being a cheat in the 'Hand of God' goal. Surely, the best player can't be a cheat in any circumstances. But Maradonna's greatness is clearly unchallengable, he is a scorer of spectacular goals.

no that cheating powdered nosed Argentine dwarf isn't fit to tie peles' boot laces. In response to the person saying about English and not liking Argentinians because of the Falklands, well in recent years i have thought Veron, Batistuta, Balbo, Ayala, Claudio Lopez etc etc have all been or are still fantastic players.
