ran url in my c drive. can't open ... can you help?

ran an url on my computer, url showered up on my desk top, but won't let me open the programs.can you suggest something for me to do to open it. many thanks i have windows me

URL stands for uniform resource locator. It is used to direct your browser to the Internet. You can use your browser to navigate you computer, but you use different conventions.
Online format: http://www.website.com (this is not a real link)
Computer format: C:\Program Files\Windows

From your browser, you should be able to open programs. If you cannot, then you should check your settings.
