I've only started getting into them recently, but they're stuff is GREAT - especially, American Idiot! How can people say they are fansone minute, then the next, then say they aren't. Has no one actually taken the time to listen to the lyrics on American Idiot, and discover what they're about!?

It's like people saying they support Liverpool cause So&So's on goals, and he's a striker, then the manager changes tactics so your not a fan anymore!

And so what if they signed with a major label!!! I reckon if I had that job, I'd love it, travelling all the time and seeing the world, but you can't do it on thin air! so why not sign major deal! and get money!!!

And also, to people who say they're not punk - WTF do you know!!! Who really cares if you don't think it's punk music! PUNK isn't about the rhythem or the words or the tabs - it's about the attitude, feeling in lyrics, the way of life and the enjoyment of life!!! So F off and let them do punk how they like it!!!!!
Cheers D*

Hi,

And so good to hear it from a loyal fan too!! you make it worth the while for anyone to like continue in the business, those that follow trends will never understand punk, it's from the heart and to be punk you gotta be true to yourself as a person,

Keep enjoying listening to the band it makes it fun to be able to like make the records to keep people as loyal as you happy and yeah punk will always be anti establishment, no doubt about that wink wink

Amongst thebest days were the dookie and insomniac days, nothing will ever compare to what was felt at that time, stress in the home, michael having massive trouble and frank too the insomniac album was a way of letting it all go!!

Take care, all the best
I think you know who

Here's the problem.....there's a ton of people, like you, who jumped on the Green Day bandwagon when American Idiot came out because it was a big hit. And if you're young or whatever or just never were exposed to their music and you become a fan and get into the rest of their albums then that's great. But it's irritating to people who have been listening to them for 10 years when all these people come out of the woodwork talking about how much they love Green Day and gushing about how cute Billie Joe is and blase blah....because as with all music, the music means something to the true fans and we have a problem with it getting pre-empted by a bunch of upstarts who will only be gushing next month about some other band with a hit record.

So, if you liked American Idiot, I would encourage you to listen to their other records because they're as good, if not better. And if you wan't to get technical about it, they really are more pop-punk....but that's okay, because they helped popularize the genre.

Ignore those fools, i support Green Day there not around now coz i think they are making another album and just being with their family too. they need a break like we do at times.
I only got into them too- i only heard of them from the American Idiot single which i loved so i got the album and their greatest hits album- International Superhits (which was released before American Idiot).
This how I get this... people only love to follow the 'HYPE' you saw how people loved Green Day like 6/7 months ago even when they won their Grammy awards and Brits 2006. Now there ain't any hype because they're quite people will say 'they're not into them' and then get into them when they release their next album.
Like you said its all it's about the attitude, feeling in lyrics, the way of life and the enjoyment of life and i agree with you 100%. Well for your information i support Chelsea not Liverpool unless they were the only English team representing England in Champions league like last year.
Ciao xx

Definitely not..I Will Always Love Green Day.... American Idiot Was a defining Album on a parallel with Dark Side of the moon by Floyd, but the album caught alight in 2004 and I guess some people have had enough of listening to it.... American Idiot defined what we are thinking and put it to music !!! Cant wait for the new stuff !!! Is It punk who cares ... Its good !!!

I think it is due to them getting popular. Green Day were a punk band and by definition punk bands are bigger in the punk community when they are not famous. As soon as Green Day became famous and popular they were disowned by the punk community. Another reason is that their music has changed, if you listen to their early albums (dookie is a perfect example) it is completely different to American Idiot - about the only song on American Idiot that reminds me of "the good old green day" is Holiday and even then its very watered down.

Hold up. You are a new greenday fan. Thats your choice. But have you looked at it fromt he view of old greenday fans. I grew up with kerplunk insomniac and dookie. That music is different than the american idiot cd. And brainstew is 50 times more punk than blvd of broken dreams can ever be. That is why people say they sold out. They changed there music. You can make the debate that its still good. But that isnt the point the point is their music in 2006 is different than Greenday of 1994. So thats why people dont like them. its not the same band.

Only die hard punks turned ont hem for the record label thing. And those fans only like underground punk. They dont like anythign mainstream so that isnt a good reason to stop liking them.

And who really cares if they are punk?!?!?! well i am sure punk fans care. Thats why they stopped liking them. If metallica turned country i woudl stop liking them. I think being a rock fan gives me the right to not like country bands.

When I was first introduced to Green Day, I couldn't get enough of them. I believed right along with everything that they stand for and their lyrics really spoke to me, and I could relate. But when you watch and listen to so much of them, all the songs tend to run together. I think that they have one sound. One, continuous, sound. Sort of like Keane, except.... not. But my real problem with them started when radio stations seemed to be all over them too. Continuous play of these songs, truly turned me off to the band, because of the repetition. So when those songs began to get old... It wasn't that i wasn't a fan of Green Day, but I was no longer a fan of those songs. I think that a lot of people feel this way, which i guess is the only real reason i can think of that people change their minds about them so quickly. Hope this helps, coming from one of the past fans....

I enjoy Green Day... I think American Idiot, Holiday, Wake Me Up When September Ends, and Boulevard of Broken Dreams are excellent. I feel it won't be long and Green Day will come out with some great new songs that will gain them international attention once again.

I really don't know why people have turned their backs on them. I love Green Day. they have been my favorite band for over 5 years. I have every one of their songs on iTunes. The biggest thing to remember is that if you like them, keep listening to them, no matter what other people think. You should also get into their newest music video, Bullet in a Bible. It is sweet.

Because people change, including Green day, they look more like depressed "emo" kids now, I've never liked them ( or hated them) BUT I think, the majority of their fans, at least when they started were teenagers, and people change a lot at that age, get more passionate about things, hating or loving them
