Computer originates from 'computare' in Latin, which means 'to calculate'. Computers perform complex calculations by the use of certain complex and frequent instructions.

An instruction exists of an operator (+,-*,/, etc.) and operands (binary numbers). The outcome of a calculation can be used to perform another instruction or can be stored in some type of memory.

The early electronical and mechanical calculators were also considered computers as they computed with numbers.

A computer nowadays is any electronical device that is being used for automatization. A computer is recognized by certain standards such as having a screen, a motherboard with processor, internal memory and a graphics cards and other internal components and having a keyboard and a mouse.
A computer exists of hardware, the electronical devices, and software, the data, programs, which are virtually situated (in reality is it electrical energy which circulates on or between the components). Computers nowadays are well known for their extremely high performance (it is the fastest machine on the world; more than millions of calculations per second).
