The reason we cannot win a war in Iraq is that the people there, fellow countrymen, can not even get along. They are sliced into religious sects with independent ideas about how THEY want to run the country. And being zealots they don't wish to share power, they want to rule THEIR country. Whereas here, in the USA we have a tolerance for varying religions. I'm a Christian, but when I watch Big Brother 7 I root for Kaysar, an admitted Muslim, because I like him and his personality. I could give a crap that he is a Muslim. I also like Macellas who is both black and gay, and I am neither, but I think he's a funny guy. But I greaw up in a society where everybody is as close to equal as it seems to get on this planet.
Yet our friends in Iraq are the ones that were educated in the west, and want some prosperity, but those who deem to fight the future are those who have never known freedom to think for themselves and thrive on hatred fed to them by their religious leaders. Responses please.

I agree with many below that feel we could win a war in Iraq if we wanted to annihalate the population. But we have so many constraints on how we fight a war it's like trying to swing a bat with your hands behind you back.
And for reference I have served in this countries Military, and I believe that in conventional combat we are the most well trained, capable military force on this planet.

Decent theory, but I'm not sure I buy it. First of all, we can win the war in Iraq. We can win any war we want to, but "want to" is the key. We have placed so many special rules on our soldiers that they're not really allowed to carry out the war. That's the primary problem.
Most of the terrorists aren't even Iraqi, so I don't think the people of Iraq are the problem. They're happy to be free and are now having lively debates and disagreements about how best to move forward. That would happen in any newly free country, it happend here. It's going to be tough going for them for awhile. Remember the history of America and how many bumps there were on our road to freedom and ongoing democracy.
Also, America is not that tolerant anymore with regard to Christianity. While Christians remain open-minded and charitable, they're being persecuted and banned all over the country. You can't have any hint of Christianity in a public school, not even a Christmas tree, but in those very same schools they have classes that teach all about Islam. Very hypocritical.

WOW. (not in a good way)
The reason we would not win in Iraq is because people like you who obviously have no idea about how wars are fought and won think they know anything about how wars are fought and won and then attepmt to make suggestions and voice opinions in public. Which leftist, propogandist media outlet lied to you and told you we "cannot win a war in Iraq"? Talk like that emboldens the other side and gives them hope to fight on in the face of overwhelming force. You have been brain-washed into thinking "we cannot win". Don't forget the US is the country that, in a 50 year time span, defeated the Nazi 3rd Reich, Imperial Japan, Communist Soviet Union, and put a man on the moon. With the american people united together, there's nothing the US can't do. With so many people like you erroniously believing we've already lost, we're half way there. How about asking a question like, "What are you doing to help win the war for peace and freedom?"

We won the war. We just didn't win the peace. The soldiers all surrendered, those that weren't killed. The leaders were arrested, those that weren't killed.
It is those terrorists, of course they were never there in the first place, and they are more concerned with killing people lined up for work (like yesterday) or those in Mosques gathered to pray, or those at police stations (like last week), or those at weddings and funerals (abundant examples of these), or those wearing an Iraqi uniform (like earlier this year when most of a graduating class was in a bus that was stopped and everyone assassinated along the side of the road).
In towns they control, the terrorists hang people from street lights for such capital offenses as watching TV, or punish women who go to the market alone by gang rape. Nice folks.
Now why are we evil Americans there when such a long-civilized people are doing so well when left to their own devices?

I think the reason you gave in the beginning is actually a reason that should help you win the war, and not vice versa. I respect you for having tolerance for various religions, but I have also heard many stories from people I know about them being discriminated due to their religion or race in America and Europe.
I think bottom line is, every country should be left alone to decide its own fate and no other country has the right to interfere in its affairs.

There is no American policy in Iraq. But the Israeli policy is allover Iraq. The Israeli government prayed for the attack on Iraq, which has eliminated the strategic threat posed by Iraq. America was pushed into the war by a group of Neo-Conservatives, almost all of them Jews, who had a huge influence on the White House. In the past, some of them had acted as advisers to Binyamin Netanyahuwww.nowarforisrael.com/

Perhaps you need to be in their shoes for a while to understand the way that they think, collectively and as individuals. We have our own collection of zealots right here in the US and if they had their way there would be little in the way of freedom as we know it. The difference being is this minority of religious and political zealots are limited in what they can and cannot do by laws in this country. Iraq has no laws but the law of survival.

Exactly. The culture and religious tone there is such a departure from Western culture there will be no meeting of minds anytime soon.I don't know why some people think we can fully domesticate that part of the wirld. We can't.It's a giant sinkhole of Islamic facism and insurgency that we have no business wasting ourselves on it.

i like the protection rigidity, notwithstanding the invasion of Iraq changed into unnecessary and we may be coping with generations of terrorists as subsequently of it. we are a lot less secure because of Bush's determination to invade. I applaud the troops (they maintain on with orders and do not make coverage) and Obama for paying for us out of there. Bush Sr. had it accurate.
