To visit a website based on an IP address. Just type in http:// + IP address p.e. http://127.0.0.1 (localhost, own computer).

However, I think the IP addresses you have from your customers are not websites, but the IP addresses from their (own client) computers. The IP addresses from visitors can be used to find out their NRP (network service provider) or the network they are connected to. It is also a form of security, as a person who has attempted to hack a website, can be reported based upon his IP address and his visiting time.

Every computer connected to the internet has an IP address. Servers have too. That's why websites have IP addresses, as they are located on other computers.

There also exist tools to retrieve IP addresses from websites. Microsoft has 7 servers with its own website on it (microsoft.com). Hence 7 different IP addresses can be used to locate the http://www.microsoft.com website.

You do have something called logs on the WEB Server. That will tell where you people come from. Just check that proper logs are enabled in your web server
Use the IP address in the logs and then try to use
nslookup command and you will start getting clues
Basically the IP address is the actual address of the computer where they come from

I have the perfect solution for you. There is a company that monitors web traffic to your site and sends you a report. It even gives their eye color ;-))

It will take me a while to find the name but I know they are there.
