e-bay is the best place for stuff like that. Anything you get for a grand is going to be pretty beat up though. If you can get one that's missing an engine, or just doesn't run though, you have a better chance of getting a nicer body for less money.

Take a look at the Craigslist for your area (or closest to)
I would avoid E-bay, as the vehicle could be thousands of miles away from your location
