No, I think natural disasters have happened again and again (i.e. dinosaurs) because the planet is, like all the planets in the universe, unstable. Although life exists on this planet, it is only because the conditions have not worsened and wiped out all life yet. But do I think it has biblical proportions? No. I don't think all of the people in Lousiana and Mississippi, etc, were sinners and deserved the hurricanes, nor any of the rash of tsunamis or earthquakes abroad were a way to control the population. It is just nature, which is not against us ... more, we are against it.

I do believe that natural disasters are meant to kill some sinners. Everyone is a sinner though. None of us can truely say that we've never sinned.

Natural disasters happens not to kill people but due to people's carelessness towards nature. Sound, air pollution, destroy of wild and nuclear bombs these are the reasons for natural disaster. These are man made reasons not by God. Whenever you will go against nature there will be natural disaster.
