the practice of lowering taxes while maintaining or increasing spending, hence running into deficit is an illusion, for to do so, the government simply "prints" more money to make up for the shortfall, this directly raises inflation, which is just another tax, because you end up with, not less money but less valuable money. So the government prefers this because it is far more concealed than the tax cuts or increases. But no matter what we still pay for the loss. And it can last as long as we keep getting up and going to work and handing the fruits of our productive efforts over to them.

If we are smart, it will last forever. The problem isn't the tax cuts. Government tax revenue INCREASED with the last round of tax cuts because people spend more when taxes are lower. They tend to invest more and hide money in tax loophole accounts when taxes are higher. You are correct about the deficit spending though. We cannot continue to spend more than we bring in and that has always been the problem. Deficit spending will not end either until we learn to want less from the government and elect people who will vote in lower budgets.

oh right, and when a Democrat wins in 2008, the deficit will disappear. come on. Clinton had the White House for eight years, he managed to balance the budget once but did nothing to start paying off the debt.

i think it is a shame what bush is planning to do with the next federal budget. he wants to cut the deficit by cutting work programs, educations programs, the perkins loan program which helps teachers going to college and they dont have to pay it after college, also programs for people with disabilities, stem cell research and oher medical research grants, while increasing spending in iraq and other military operations. also giving the wealthy (1 percent) a fat tax break. he is not helping anybody else-the low income family tax credit was made permanent by clinton. so the middle class is paying the brunt of the taxes. his tax cuts are not working, or his war and were paying for it.

Taking from the poor and giving to the rich was the plan. It will stop in 2008.
The real problem is that you and I and our children and grandchildren will be footing the bill for the great Bush giveaway for many years to come.

We can continue cut taxes and increasing spending until China forecloses on us and puts us to work for minimum wages, like nine cents an hour on a good day.
It might be worth it if I can watch the expression on a couple of republican voters faces as a Chinese boss screams down the line to get their tired *** American behinds, to work! Chihuahua
BS: Are they still picking themselves up by their boot straps?

Where have you been since FDR when it comes to deficit spending?
Were you against deficit spending when Democrats ran Congress?
Will you be against it when Democrats regain control? Or will it be ok if we have a deficit but more taxes?

It will continue for as long as the government wishes it. However, if the dollar continues to be undermined this way, eventually its value will drop. Once the dollar weakens to a certain point, corporations will start raising cain with "their" representatives and the behavior will change.

As long as China (a communist country) keeps buying our worthless bonds. Then when they call for their money the jackals in charge will have no choice but to capitulate and allow the U.S. to either be aBitch for China or maybe even a communist country.
