Awww, the poor babies have to restructure and lay off employees! Oh WAAAH! That just breaks my heart. Did some of their advertisers finally wake up to what the NYT is? What ever will LIBERALS do if they lose precious column inches usually reserved for hate, slander of the president, posting classified information that damages national security, and many other sordid activities? They and their bastard stepsisters in LA (Times) and Washington (Post) aren't losing readers to the Internet, but rather credibility! Good, accurate, balanced, and unbiased REPORTING is not what NYT passes off as journalism. Perhaps they have folks who can string a sentence together, but how do they justify their lies and obvious one-sidedness? Maybe people are also tired of know-nothing columnists telling them how to live and what to believe. Bravo!

Another Q asked to seek out targets with opposing views to bash or to garner support from like-minded bashers. Grow up. The problem confronting the print press under pressure from the electronic sources on the net are complex and politics only plays a small part. Do you want to rely on the net as the only source for news and analyses of the news and for heavens sake why limit yourself to one view point. That's a really stupid and narrow-minded position on getting the news to make informed decisions , Don't you think?

Well I for one don't mind the bashing of our president he is not the right man for the job. But I agree with most of your ideas. But I have never been one for the news. All they put in it is over dramatic lies. And wars. Plus all the murders. Why can't they ever put something good and true in it!!? I mean would it kill someone to be an honest jurnalist?

FYI many papers are struggling these days.

Why would anyone page for day old news when the current news is free on the internet?

The papers that are successful have something that people really want (i.e. excellent commentary that isn't available elsewhere).
