Jake b/f says I always ask the question and answer it too but he was telling me that people get searched at sponsored events for rival brands and they are confiscated. Is it obvious- who are these brand police and can they do that legally?

I think what you mean is all this nonsense where you are not allowed into major events carrying/wearing/eating a product produced by Company X when the event is being sponsored by rival Company Y.

I think its a total disgrace that anyone should have what they wear or eat dictated to them by a multinational company that can't stand a little competition.

On the other hand it has been known for rival companies to flood an event with hundreds of people wearing identical clothes carrying their brand - it's called Guerilla Advertising and is also an unfair practice in my opinion.

All these restrictions on what spectators are wearing etc would stop if people boycotted events where these "Brand Name Police" were operating.

I don't know, haven't heard of this, but if it is true it should be stopped. Just because a brand is sponsoring shouldn't have any effect on the freedom of the attendees choices.

i havent heard of this but i would refuse to be searched as it is a breach of my freedom to choose which brand of drink i drink etc

I would report it

if however i was to be searched by sercurity for weapons etc i would not object (so long as everyone was searched)
