Go to your doctor. At 17 your "system" is still settling down. However, your irregular periods could be a symptom of something more serious, endometriosis, etc.
You haven't mentioned anything about unprotected sex, but if this is the case and you're worried about being pregnant, see your doctor anyway. Better safe than sorry.

md answer here: it is often quite normal to have irregular periods during adolescence, usually known as dysfunctinal uterine bleeding or anovulatory bleeding. Consult if profuse bleeding or continuous bothersome bleeding or if concerned about pregnancy. Stress may play a small role, usually giving rise to anovulation (no ovulation). I would wait a few weeks, it usually clears up and becomes regular again. If not and you are not pregnant and wish the period to stop, see an md to get help (quite simple medical solutions are available).

I would take a test first! Then if your not pregnant get on birth control. The birth control pills will balance your period to a prefect 28 day cycle. That is the smartest thing to do.

No, don't wait it out. TAKE THE DANG TEST! You'll feel better knowing the answer atleast. And if you are pregnant then YES; go to the doctor ASAP! I spotted and bled (brown and also red) with all 3 of my pregnancies! So, if you've been having unprotected sex, then it's possible you are pregnant! Good luck.

first off...are you using Birth Control? sometimes your birth control can mess up your period. It could also be something completely different...
I wouldn't bother taking an at home test...you should go straight to the doctor and tell them...they'll give you one and a blood test.

Take the test and learn a lesson. Abstaining is the only sure method of birth control. No protection at all is the worst.

Well... You are somewhat young so your period could still be somewhat irregular. If you are having random periods you probably aren't pregnat, but if you are having sex I would go get a home test just to be sure, and if it turns out positive go to a doctor.

i would go to the doctor. you could be preg. or just irregular from stress. or could be ectopic pregnacy.
advice for the future: don't have sex until you are married and are able to take care of a child. sex is for reproducing. and for enjoyment between a husband and wife.
