Everyone has as physical appearance, however the describing of any/every persons physical appearance is a purely subjective exercise. what you consider to be ugly might be an-others handsome.

any descriptor is valid, ugly, handsome, weird, whatever your subjective decision is but don't be surprised if not everyone agrees with you or even attempts to punch you if you use the less flattering descriptions

I think ugly is a valid description only if talking about someone's personality. Physical appearance is definitely subjective. What one person finds attractive is what another will find unattractive.

if you don't like they way someone looks, just say, they could look better, or just keep it to yourself, some people can't help by the way they look, example some one with down syndromes, or born with a defect, or had an accident and got disfigured from injuries.

if a person has a bad attitude, just day it like that, bad attitude, i know when i joined the Army, i had a bad attitude, which did not help me, i could not get promotions because of it. since i left the service. i have had a reality change, my attitude is different now since i have to know when to have the bad attitude. but no it is not considered ugly,

i use the work ugly for when i describe big people clothes with those (hello great big flowers) on them. i am a big person, it is bad enough i am big, but why design big people clothes with those extra large UGLY flower, people can see use without those UGLY flowers. that is how i use the word,

or if i am playing cards and my hand is no good, i will say i had a UGLY card hand.

i hope this helps

I used to laugh when my gran said Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but now I am "grownup" I have to agree - everyone/thing is beautiful to something else!

BUT ugly can and should be used in relation to attitudes ie racism - someone can have a very ugly attitude.

It's subjective, about 99% of the time...the other 1 percent is you see it and you know it's UGLY, you know with no doubt...its UGLY
