I was excited when I saw a few babies. I even put them in a breeding net. But now I have WAY to many, like 70. They're all different ages and sizes. I was hoping the older guppies would help with the population growth, but they don't seem to mind the babies. They even ignore new ones. I have separated the males but the females are STILL having more. Do you think pet stores would want them? They're really pretty, even the females. What should I do with them all?

your female fish have been impregnated. they will contine to have babies until all of the fertil eggs have been developed and born. buy a fish eater..ie turtle, or aggressive fish that will eat other fish. my kid wanted a guppy that was pg and she had babies til she died...absolutly No male guppies in my tank. all babies were eaten upon birth by other species of fish .

The pet store you got them at wold possible take them and if they don't you can ask them where they get them (what breeder) and you could cont the breeder he might want them and to control the population by buying a piece of plastic like the kind for betas so they cant fight and separate the sexes the females can still have babies for like 6 more months but it will eventually help with all the babies

That happened to me a long time ago.... exept I was 12 and the person I was liveing with through ALL my fish out side cause first the males ate the babies then we separated them and then the females ate the babies so we had a tank for the females andone for the male and a huge one for the thousands of babies so Nikki (the mean old hag i lived with) sold them and through the rest in her yard to die T_T but you could sell some to people and pet stores

First of all, if you say where you live you might get a few people from around where you live to take some and ask some pet stores if they will take them and have them tell you what one are female and which are males they have a little more experiece and would be able to seperate them better

certain, guppies are only like the rabbits of fish, it is extra sturdy to stop them from breeding than that is to get them to reproduce. If there's a male and a woman interior a similar tank there'll be children.

You should talk to a local pet store. You may even make a couple of bucks. Then seperate the male and female so they stop making new fish!

If you have a kid have him start asking around if other kids in his school or something want to have a guppie for free as a pet. Or just give em to kids in the neighborhood. Get in touch with a science teacher at a school and have the teacher give it to the kids as a little science project? heh.

I think you should contact your local pet store. They should be able to give you some good advice. I think separating males & females was a good start.

Good Luck.

You could always give them to all your friends!
