My perfectionism has gotten worse over the past couple of years... I become so depressed about not reaching the standards i have for myself that I want to beat myself into submission... i know this is unhealthy but i'm majorly wary of taking meds and therapists are pricey... are those the only two options?

don't worry so much about perfection... no human being is perfect. i learned that recently: that we All make mistakes, and no one is perfect. what is perfect and good, is to continuously learn from ur mistakes and continue to do good things that u are proud of as ur life goes on. don't live in the past, and don't put up standards that NO ONE would be able to reach, much less yourself.... learn to love yourself and who you are and what you have to offer~~ out of all the things i've realized throughout the years, is to value myself and what I can contribute to my friends, family, and relationships. if i can do anything at all that is positive and healthy and makes myself and others happy, then i am on a good path. of course i may make mistakes sometimes, be judgemental, or mean, or selfish, but instead of feeling that i am not good enough, i have to continue to remind myself that i AM a good person, and in fact, can be Better and better as i continue and learn! it takes work, but instead of working towards making urself feel BAD (ie beating urself into submission), make a change: put that diligence and strength of mind into making yourself feel GOOD! :) when all's said and done, no one but yourself can make you feel good or bad about yourself. you have that much control and power!!! God has faith in you... so you should too! :)
