Education is the process of wasting one-third of your lifetime to learn how to waste the remaining three-thirds in a way in which you might enjoy the work you do while having the chance to make a nice salary, travel and understand the world is yours to have and hold...

You didn't really say anything special to agree with. You said Bernard Shaw. Do you mean Bernard Shaw? I for one value education. It is not a waste at all. Ignorance is more expensive than an education.

LOL. I agree with you sentiment, but laugh at your mathematical skills.
Of course, you do have to do something with your life. People are iclined to complain about not having enough free time, but those with way too much are the most depressed. We claim that if we had all the time in the world we would do this and that, but chances are that we wouldn't. And, at least by the end of school you should have a trade to practice so that you can support yourself financially. You can still do all your philosophical thinking and theorizing. And hell, if you are good enough at it then you can make it your business.

YES! Lots of the school system is wasted time. GOSH, you go to school for 6hrs plus a day but you dont learn for all of that time. And well this is more for early grades in US and Canada but it also lacks to teach essential skills you need in life like scocial skills. It is frustrating, but there are still some in education that really do care and want to teach childeren to benefit their lives.

When you compare the public school's policies and proceedures against what psychology and experience tells us that children need in order to learn, then yes I must agree that not only is that true, but it is exactly what they are trying to achieve. -one must try to remember that the public school system was originally designed to provide an education for those children who were going to grow up to work in factories:
Chug Punk Ting, Chug Punk Ting, Chug Punk... you get the idea.

The dichotomy in that statement is wonderful...
I agree with the concept that statement presents... I suspect a majority would fail to see the humor.

So true... we work so hard to get an education so we can get a job so we can slave away, hoping we can someday have enough to live on after we get too old to work.
