I have an iPod that I destroyed by changing the battery and screwing up the wires inside. I need an inexpensive player that can hold a few hundred songs and is LOUD. Ideas?

I have been quite happy with my Rio player. the menu can be slow, and external software is required to add and alter play lists. However after two years and probably thousands of hours of play I have not had a single problem. The battery is still at about 98% of factory new. If by chance it does freeze or act strangely is has an easily accessible reset which although resetting to factory settings don't effect any of your information.

The are around $200 for a 5~6 GB player which will hold a couple thousand songs.

That would be the link to the player I have.

You can pick them up refurbished here:

iRiver Clix. The best flash player, BY FAR.

It stores 2GB (about 500 songs), views photos, plays video, has an FM tuner, FM + voice recording, and the battery lasts 19/20 hours before you have to charge it. You can download games onto the Clix, too.

It's got a cool design. You press the edge of the screen to navigate.

It's $200, the same price as the matching-in-capacity Nano. The Clix won CNET's Editor's Choice award.
