Physical address is normally the MAC address that comes with the network device. You dont need that.
All you need is the IP address that is assigned to that network device. This is a 4 byte address in the form of xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx.
That IP address gets translated at the system end.
You must have and IP addres to get connected in the TCP /IP

Yes, you must have the IP address of the computer you wish to connect to. It is the method of recognizing individual computers. Without an IP address the computer is incapable of being online and is not "seen" by other computers in either the same network or other networks which includes the internet. You need an IP address to be part of a network. You also need the name of the network connecting to and the name of the particular computer you wish to connect with.

You can find the IP address by opening a command prompt in the computer you wish to remotely connect to and typing in:

To open a comand prompt window do one of two things: Go to Start-All Programs-Accessories-Command Prompt. Or:

Start-Run then type in ipconfig and a command prompt window will open. Then type in the above text, here is a reminder:
ipconfig/all and push Enter.

Information about the IP address for that computer as well as a routers IP address if any, and a MAC address if an adapter is used. Just read each discription and you will find what you are looking for.

If you need help with the commands type in ipconfig/? and a list of IP related commands will apear. You can access further information for any command prompt command by typing in the ? charactor after the command.

Good luck in remotely connecting to a networked computer.

There are also other methods if you wish to have somebody remotely connect to your computer to provide assistance for a computer problem. There is not enough time for me to write them all here, but you can get assistance through several good books which you can abtain at a local book store.

A good one is Windows XP Inside Out.

you pick a ssh server on the different pc. On a living house windows gadget it may well be unnecessary to distant connect with it through ssh considering there quite are not from now on alot of instructions contained in the console. For linux purely receive open-ssh and tell it to run. which will be your server. For os x, im positive you will get open ssh or purely tell osx to run ssh.
