Christmas Trees, definitely. Trees are grown and harvested en masse every year.

Well the holidays that effect our environment are just as the month that went by the 4th of july. For what does harm to the earth is the powder that is in the fireworks at when it lands to the ground nobody knows where it landed or sometimes don'nt bother to pick it up. So being that the material used in the firework ends up contaminating the soil with the chemical burning any plant in site that will consume it once the chemical gets into the soil. As when its rains it will go in faster and allowing it into the soil which not only does it pollute the plants but also our water. For the water is carried away to the main stream water supply in which we consume and so do animals within the natural habitate. So animals take a down fall, but they are beginning to improve the fire works to explode at extent that would not leave any material or substance of chemical right after it desinates, good luck with your report im out

The Christmas tree, gift wrapping, plastic plates, cardboard boxes, additional consumption of food and drink add to the amount of garbage going into the landfill. As many items as possible should be recycled. The Christmas tree can be composted or shredded for mulch and the plastic, paper, cardboard, tin cans and aluminum should be separated from from regular garbage and recycled as well. You can start a compost pile where you can add vegetable and fruit peels, egg shells, unwanted fruits and vegetables, coffee grounds and so forth. Once these organic materials break down they can be used to amend the soil in home gardens. Do a web search using the terms 'holiday waste'. Good luck.

There is an episode of The Simpsons about that. The powers that be create a holiday called "Love Day." The garbage created forces the city to pick up and move the town a few miles down the road. Its a good one.

Most types of gift wrap can't be recycled because of the chemicals in them, which means they get thrown in the landfills. Same thing for gift wrap but at least they can be reused for awhile. Then there's all those old Christmas lights clogging up the landfills. Not to mention the tinsel (if anyone still uses it) and old plastic ornaments you can't do anything with when they get scratched, etc.

Many plastics are washed away on those rainy day hollidays down the sur drains. Rainy hollidays are really messy. Before anybody can pick up the mess the water takes it away.
