Well,, first you need to research the care of corn snakes. I have one that I got 6 years ago and she has really grown (about 6 feet now and she was only 5 inches when I got her). Are you old enough to be taking care of the snake by yourself?
Do you realize the care involved?
Snakes don't have to be fed everyday but they do need some specific care. First of all you need a secure cage -I use a 20 gallon tank w/ a wire lid.
You need a heat source- I prefer the heat pads under the bottom - be careful of heat rocks b/c the snake can get burned by them.
You also need a UV light bulb - they need the UV rays
You will also need a good water bowl - my snake likes to get in her bowl right before she sheds.
Also, you mom might be a little squemish about the food requirements - you can let her know that a snake can eat live or frozen mice (mine eats small rats right now)
And from time to time you will have to give your snake a liquid wormer to prevent her from getting parasites (you can get this at a good pet shop).
If you are able to get one make sure you check her out all over. Snakes can get "mites" they are very small parasites that will suck the blood of the reptile. They will look like small black pepper. To get rid of them you will need to get a Mite Spray.
A corn snake is a good snake to have b/c they are not aggressive and are easy to handle. They also do not get too big.
Also, the colors are very pretty,, mine is a "Snow" corn snake so she is pink/white
Hope this helps!!
Just let your mom know the good points of the snake (It will never wake you up at night crying to go out or potty on her carpet!!)
My kids love our snake!!!

You're asking her to "get you" a snake? How about actually saving up the money to buy one (and all the equipment that goes with) yourself? I'll bet she'll be much more willing to listen to your arguments if you prove that you're mature enough to handle the financial responsibility of getting a snake.
Including cage, heating, substrate, and snake, you're probably looking at a $100 - $200 or larger upfront cost (depending on the snake) and around $50 a year in food if you have to buy frozen mice from a petstore. That's quite a lot to just ask your mom to buy for you.
It's summer. Go mow some lawns.

It might be she thinks snakes are not good pets.. or gross pets. Show her facts about corn snakes and why they would make a harmless fun pet for you to have. Read up on the snakes on the internet and find out all the details about it and what u will haev to do to care for it. Plenty of people have snakes for pets find a website where they talk about having snakes for pets and show it to her.
You also need to show you will care for it responsibly of course.

easyyyyyy go to a pet shop get an aquarium. saw dust, a bowl for water, heat lamp and a nice clay semi-tube and buy the snake. then keep it in your room feed it 2 mice every 20 days and after about 2 months ( and the snake has calmed down ) call mama in to the room and show her your new pet and when she freaks tell her you've had it for 2 months ( lie.. and say you never ever take it out ) and you will have a new pet good luck !

Flatter her, do the housework, do your chores BEFORE she asks you to, finish your homework before hanging with your friends, ask if you can help with dinner...shopping...wash the car...etc. These are all signs that you are mature enough to have a pet and a snake is a big commitment. They are different than dogs or cats. Dogs & cats can come tell you when they are hungry, want out, etc. You have to keep on top of what a snake wants.

Your mother probably knows best.. To have a pet... and for a long time.. you have to prove to her and you should prove to yourself that you are a responsible individual.. that you will care for the pet until it dies. When you go on vacation.. who will take care of it? When you go to school. who will take care of it. I am sure that your mother has thought about all of these things and you should also.
