I think they're really good. Eragon, by Christopher Paolini was at first a self published book (later then published by a company) , and now it's famous and a movie is coming out in December. Self published books have the potential to be famous, especially if you promote it really well.

I am a published author who looked into this as a possible option along the way. It was not for me. The distribution connections are the most valuable aspect of the publishing business and as a self-published author - you just don't have it usually. I am contracted for three more books at this time but there is another that I am considering self-publishing mostly because it only has two real venues for distribution and both have offered to carry it. For the most part though - self-publishing has beaucoup drawbacks.

it all depends on what it is b/c one of my aunts publiched her poems and they were good she only made six copies but the poems were good. if your thinking about publisheing a book i think you should i mean it wouldnt hert nothing
