Here are his carreer stats:

78 games played
7607 rushing yards, 4.6 yards per carry
169 receptions
1280 reciving yards.

Also, remember that he had a 2000 yard rushing season, and two Super Bowl rings.
His career was cut short by injuries, but don't you think the Hall should honor quality over quantity in certain instances?

Those are good stats. But they key is to be consistent. It is unfortunate that he had his career cut short, but if he had stayed healthy for another 6 years, then he is a "shoe-in". A good barometer to use is Jerome bettis. TD was a better back, but the Bus stayed longer with consistent numbers. And he will get into the hall.

But you never know, I think Gale sayers got in and he had a similar path.

I would say yes, let's look at Gale Sayers numbers shall we? His career was cut short by injuries.....Sayers played 7 seasons ran for 4,956 yards, but in the last 2 seasons he only gained 90 yards, so basically he had a 5 year career; and he's in the Hall of Fame. Sayers numbers are not Hall of Fame type numbers, but he's there. So if you are comparing numbers, he definitely should be there, no question.

Only if they give him the benefit of the doubt that Sayers got. But Sayers was also a kick returner too. So he made an impact in special team too.

TD was good, but do I think he should be in the hall right now in front of other backs that haven't gotten in yet...no. Needs time. He could get in 5 to 10 years from now.

Stat wise I think he should but given the injury shorten career I don't think he's a sure thing. Definitely not a 1st ballot but he may get in via that 2,000 yard season on later votes.

That is a great career for the short amount of time he played. You also forgot the game, I think it was the AFC championship one year, when he had a migrane and couldn't see for half of the game, and he still went out and played. That is a true warrior.

No, he didn't play long enough and amass enough yards nor was he able to distinguish himself from the other backs that came after him and put up similar stats

well his stats arent the kind that make him a 1st ballot hall of famer, but he probably will get in eventually. the other thing against him is he played for the broncos who have a great o-line

I agree with you. I just don't think the press who votes for them will feel the way we do.
