Call the police. They will be able to track down the phone records not only for your carrier but for all carriers and find this tool regardless of his private number status. To my knowledge, it wouldbe illegal for any carrier to divulge this infrmation to anyone but the police.

Call whatever cell phone company you have. I have Nextel and on my bill it shows me a list of every call I make and every call I receive. Then report it to the police. If you can't get the # through your cell comp then call the police anyways and they can get it. No matter what you should report it, it could always be some idiot playing a joke, but you shouldn't take a chance. Better to be safe than sorry. Good Luck

Why would you call him back?! I suggest reporting it to the police....whoever sent it to you can get in serious trouble.
