Hi and thanks for clicking on my question, hope you can offer some good advice.

I need a socket set to work on my 1995 Yamaha 900S Diversion.

I guess I need metric sockets. What is best to go for the 1/4 inch or 3/8 inch drive/. Can someone recommend a product or brand.

3/8th drive six point sockets, normal and extended. long and short Allen sockets, set of combination wrenches. big 1/2" socket and ratchet/breaker bar for axle nut (chain adjustment) #1,#2,#3, Phillips head screwdrivers couple of wobble drive extension bars and your covered for just about anything you want to do on most (import) bikes. you'll need some special tools if you go inside engine/suspension

Definitely metric. I would suggest the 3/8 drive it is small enough to get into most places especially with an extension and large enough to get off some of the larger bolts/nuts on the bike.
If you plan on this being an investment, at minimum, get a Craftsman set. They are lifetime guaranteed and I have never had a problem with mine. Can't say that for ones I paid a little less for. If this is your hobby and you are not going into mechanics you don't need to pay for Snap-Ons. They are great, but overkill for your application.
Enjoy the ride!

Go with craftsman...get the 3/8 in set at first. You will eventually probably need the 1/4 inch....but the 3/8 set should cover almost everything you will need to do.

I agree with the others - buy Craftsman, they will last the home mechanic all of his life. You will probably want to make sure you have a quality phillips head screwdirver as well.
