Kook: I see that you forgot to take your haldol this morning and the voices in your head are louder than ever. Try jumping off a VERY tall building that might stop the voices.

Anyone who thinks that Jeb Bush could be part of a "great Republican ticket" has a very sorry attitude about the United States. Jeb Bush is a sorry excuse for an American (remember his attacks on Americans during the Terry Schaivo thing?), and of course would be roughly as much of a disaster as President as was "W".

This question COULD have been asked in a more mature way, using more likely and frankly better choices. The last 6 years have thoroughly discredited the idea that any dummy can be an effective President as long as he confidently toes the right-wing line. But the Republicans could still choose an effective leader (say the pre-2004 John McCain) who stands up to the anti-American far right wing of the party and does the job well. Since in fact the Democrats ARE very likely to still screw up yet another campaign, the Republicans have a golden opportunity - one that they've consistently thrown away in recent years as they put lust for power ahead of the good of the country.

Almost any Republican. About the only Democrat that could challenge a Republican would be Lieberman. All the other Democrats are not credible on national defense. As long as there are wars going on, the Democrats will have a hard time winning elections.

I think it is mostly Carter and Clinton's fault. Carter let the Iranians walk all over us. Clinton did nothing when we were hit by several terrorist attacks. It has given the Democrats a weak image, and that's bad with all the violence in the world.

For a Republican to win, it will have to include McCain or Giuliani. Jeb Bush or Condalizza Rice have no chance of taking the White House (Condi would have a slightly better chance). Anyone seen as connected to the Bush camp would have a difficult time (unless, of course they get a conveniently scheduled terror attack in the US mere months before the election). A moderate will have a difficult time getting through the primary, but they would have a chance of winning.

Mitt Romney/Rudy G. would be a good one at least I know both are feeling the political waters to see if they could get support. Jeb won't run in '08 but who knows in 2012?

judging the way the republicans have run the country with congress and the cabinet in the last 6 years... I dont think the presidental office in 08 will be ran or controlled by a republican

Ditto with Brian.

Also, what a blow to "red-state ego" to have an Italian from New York
to win the Republican namination.I'd vote for him just to see a culturally isolated red-state Conservative address a New Yawkah as "Mister President".

If Rudy wins, what's left of neoconservatism goes down the can.Ever think of that?

Alas! We can already see the end of the tunnel for the Republicans!! And, thank God in anticipation for that, and thank also the present chief occupant of the White House - a clown!

Even the more least informed, lazy American realizes corruption when he/she sees it. The money's been stolen and tucked safely away in the bank and the ride is coming to an end.

Let's just hope that most Americans have learned enough from the crime spree to only vote for moderates in the future, that neither the far right or far left represents real Americans.
