I think it is a human trait that we feel bad when we get rejected. This doesn't have to come in the form of relationships, it can come in many forms. It starts off at a young age when we are kids. Your mom or dad usually are the kings and queens of rejection.
Its a sad part of life, so learning to deal with it makes us stronger.

I think it's because everyone wants to be liked and if someone rejects you, you feel like you're not liked by that person. also, when we put ourselves in a position in which we might be rejected, it is usually because we want something. then, when we're rejected, it means that we can't have what we want and it's upsetting.

Many people feel bad when they are rejected because, failing to have sufficient self-esteem, they use the esteem of others. When they fail to receive it, they feel a deficit of esteem. This can be remedied by building self-esteem to where you don't require anyone elses esteem of you to feel good.
