Not even gonna read the previous answers because i'm sure alot of people said Hulk Hogan. Well, as far as marketing and business, Hulk was the best champion ever. But he wasn't a good wrestler. Good entertainer yes, but not a good wrestler. As far as the best wwf/wwe champion that could actually wrestler, i'd say its a 3 way tie between bret hart, shawn michaels, and Ric Flair. Although other great champions are Kurt Angle, Macho Man, HHH, Stone Cold, The Rock, and the Iron Shiek.

None of them!!! They all have based their character on a combination of 2 previous champions. Those men were Bruno Sanmartino and "Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers. Bruno was a mans man, he took on all comers, defended his title night after night and endeared himself to fans and future wrestlers forever. Buddy Rogers actually took "Gorgeous" George's persona and expanded it to look very confident and self centered. He passed this on to others (IE: Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes, Jerry Lawler & even Hulk Hogan), they changed it to fit their personallity but, it's basically the same.
