If I were to ask a question about Nickleback or Fallout Boy, I would get 30 answers in 10 minutes.

But if I ask a question about Tom Waits or Ryan Adams or Butch Walker, I would be lucky to get 5 responses.

I don't want to sound like an old man, but what the hell is wrong with music today?

MTV killed music. They made music something to see not hear. Also, they know what sells to the average moron, and there's more average moron to buy CDs than people with enough patience to actually sit and really listen to music.

MTV made the music business huge and the art of making music almost unimportant.

PS-If you have the time, contact me and suggest some artists too me. Thanks

Because someone has decided that it's more about the marketability than the music.

Fallout Boy sells an image, but their music is no different than AFI (who used to be good about 10 years ago when they were punk, not emofag) or any one of a thousand emo bands out there.

It's cool to look and dress a certain way, but if you do it, you still aren't cool until you listen to the right music. That's the message that kids are getting. Nonconformity and rebellion have become the status quo.

But these self styled emo kids have taken it to a new low. They have the same standards of hair and makeup the goth kids had (yes, goth is dead), but the snobbishness of the indie rock kids (if you haven't heard of or mispronounce this obscure band's name, you are dumb). Really what it boils down to is that they are the third generation the the new wave movement spawned (club kids, goths and now emo), who were in turn spawned by hippies. Dirty hippies.

The only thing that would shock me about music anymore is if a bunch of teenagers bought tweed suits and hats and did Vaudeville numbers as a barbershop quartet.

I can't say I'm with ya on on Adams or Walker, but I do dig on some Tom Waits. And bring back the Man in Black while we're at it.

I guess it's all about marketing. That and the fact that this site is overrun with adolescents.

Personally, I like Chicago, the Eagles, Journey, Aerosmith, and Meatloaf.

I have never even heard of Fallout Boy or Nickelback- except for seeing posts about FB on this site.

Us kids just like whats popular. Not all kids are like that, but most dont know anything else besides whats shown on MTV. If other music was advertised or shown on a channel in the same way as MTV does, more kids would probably know about classic rock or country.

I agree, there is no such thing as quality music. I can't believe some ****** like Kayane West makes money off the crap he puts out there. It's a shame that no one can appreciate the quality that music from the past provides.

Because this site, at least the music section, appears to be populated by teenagers who have no idea what good music sounds like.

Tom Waits? Seriously? Just because he sings about late night evening prostitutes does not make him talented! Avante Garde maybe.

I hate Nickelback. Hate them. So much.

Taste Smaste... everyone likes what they like!

It can get too corrupt and demeaning for those women who have been put down in the videos also. This is called misogyny and girls need to understand what it is.
